Carnival of Project Management #44

Carnival wheelWelcome to the January/February 2013 edition of the Carnival of Project Management. Here’s the round up of the best articles submitted this time.

Pmpad presents Project Manager: leader or manager? posted at The Project Manager Pad, saying, “While the manager’s vocabulary usually includes words such as administering, authority, duties or objectives, the leader talks to people’s minds and leverage on their aspirations, needs and abilities more than on company’s procedures. The leader acts as an authoritative person, combining conceptual skills like vision and innovation with human skills like influencing and trust.”

Astrid van Dorst presents Further your Social Media Plan posted at Cloud Analysts.com, saying, “Your social media plan should take advantage of the slightly different benefits of the range of social media out there and pick those social media channels that best suits your type of business.” Some ideas to consider for your project communications?

Anita Valentinova presents Learning about Teams from the Marshmallow Challenge posted at telerik.com, saying, “So, what is the recipe of a great team?” You could use this marshmallow challenge idea as an ice breaker for a new team coming together.

Best Management Practice presents Best Management Practice new Common Glossary available now! (pdf) posted at best-management-practice.com, saying, “Common Glossary aligns ITIL and PPM Terms and Definitions – Single Reference for Best Management Practice Portfolio”. You can download the Common Glossary for free.

Steve Ressler has an article of particular interest to me at the moment: 4 Things Project Managers Can Learn From Having a Baby posted at govtech.com. He writes about how you can use your project management skills to prepare for a baby. As if you could really prepare!

That concludes this edition. Submit your blog article to the next edition of carnival of project management using our carnival submission form. Past posts and future hosts can be found on our blog carnival index page.
