Welcome to the May/June 2012 edition of the Carnival of Project Management. The Carnival is a round up of the best project management articles (according to me) over the last two months.
Terry Bunio writes When Agile isn’t the best thing for the client posted at PM Hut, saying, “Often times I believe we as Agile professionals get caught up in determining what is valuable for our clients. This was a major fault with the Waterfall processes, and I fear Agile is falling into the same trap.”
Bob McGannon presents a creative article called The Latest 10 Things About Project Management I Learned from Dogs posted at Project Times, saying, “In the pressure filled world of managing programs and projects, it is a healthy thing to take a break, look at the world around us, and reflect. Like project leaders, dogs are almost constantly communicating (albeit in their own unique way.)”
John Reiling, PMP, presents What is the breadth of your experience?. John’s article appears on PMcrunch, and it’s a useful reminder for those of us who are becoming experts in one particular area – broaden your horizons.
Australia-based blogger Kailash Awati presents The King’s Son: a Project Management Fable posted at his blog Eight To Late. As I’m reading Our Iceberg is Melting: Changing and Succeeding Under Any Conditions, which is also a fable, this article resonated with me.
John Carroll presents Inner Resources at his blog The Tao of PM, saying, “The wise project manager is content with what he has. He can live simply and enjoy prosperity and free time. If our goals are clear, we can achieve them without fuss for this is the way of the project manager.”
The blog Duration Driven presents Managing a Multi-Generational Team. As some of you will know, this is a subject I’m particularly interested in, and I shared my tips for working with the boomer generation a while ago.
Finally, Leading Strategic Initiatives has an article about identifying strategic assumptions.
That concludes this edition. The official Blog Carnival website is being very flaky at the moment so if you can’t submit your blog article to the next edition of Carnival of Project Management using our carnival submission form, send the link in via the contact form.
Past posts and future hosts can be found on our blog carnival index page. When it’s working.
