Do you work with business analysts? They don’t think like you, do they?
Project managers and business analysts don’t always see eye to eye, and this leads to conflicts on the project team. It’s not always about a clash of personalities; it’s more often just different approaches to working, different goals and different methodologies.
I’m going to be speaking about how we can work better with business analysts at the Business Analysis conference in London on 28-30 September.
I’m on the podium at 2.30pm on Tuesday, 29 September. Hopefully the audience will have woken up a bit after the post-lunch slump by then.
I’ll be talking about how project managers and business analysts attack the same topic from different angles and address how to work effectively together. The presentation will cover:
- What project managers do and why they don’t intrinsically value business analysis (or analysts for that matter)
- How to help project managers understand what business analysis is and the benefits it brings
- How business analysts can think like project managers to get us to do what they want
- How to avoid the “them and us” attitudes and foster a successful working environment.
I’m really looking forward to it. It’s an opportunity to be a bit antagonistic!
