Carnival of Project Management #27
Welcome to the 27th edition of the Carnival of Project Management. It’s a little late, but it has some good links for summer afternoon reading.
Literal Thinking presents Scope creep of a different kind which is about “A case when the project manager not only allows but encourages scope creep.”
GeekMBA360 presents Scrum mania posted at GeekMBA360. This makes the point that Scrum isn’t the answer to everything – it’s just a methodology. And the same can be said of ITIL, PRINCE2, Agile, PMBOK etc etc.
Rich Maltzman, PMP presents Getting better all the time… posted at Scope crêpe, saying, “Project management music to your ears, from Liverpool!” How could I not include something about The Beatles. Rich also submitted Poignantly perpetuate your project’s purpose posted at Scope crêpe, saying, “I submitted this ON PURPOSE.” Thanks, Rich! He knows that I sift through a lot of stuff submitted by auto-content generators and I’m appreciative of people who make an effort to submit manually (I can tell).
Karine Simard presents Project management and firefighting posted at Go Ahead, Manage, saying, “Should project managers be fire fighters or forest rangers?”
eric klen presents How to communicate with impact: A 10 second tutorial posted at Dharma Consulting. You really can read it in 10 seconds.
Simon Stapleton presents Lead Well and Prosper posted at ACE Your Performance Review, saying, “If management was a true science, then there wouldn’t be so many books on the subject. Do a search on Amazon for management and you’ll see thousands of books on the subject.” It’s a book review of Nick McCormick’s book. Read my review of it here.
Peter Taylor presents Be twice as productive and still leave the office early posted at The Lazy Project Manager’s Blog, saying, “How to be twice as productive and still leave the office early.” It’s a promotional piece for his new book, which I’m hoping to read later this year.
Josh Nankivel presents Project Management Career Path and Technical Skills posted at pmStudent.com. Good advice as always, from Josh.
Raj Menon presents Introducing Critical Chain Project Management” posted at “are you ready to lead?”. The title of this one interested me as it’s very similar to Dina’s blog.
Peter cantelo presents 11 Steps To Being A Better Leader posted at vivavi.co.uk.
Craig Borysowich presents Managing Project Acceptance posted at Craig Borysowich. With diagrams!
Wally Bock presents Thought exchange for competitive advantage posted at Three Star Leadership Blog, saying, “Two Chicago software firms swap execs for a few days to see what kind of creative sparks might fly. There’s a lot to learn from their story and the movement that spawned the exchange.” And project managers should do this.
Denis presents Programs in Context of the Organisation posted at Denis at Expert Program Management, saying, “This article aims to show how the organisation’s vision, strategy, portfolio, programs, and projects are all linked together.” This has a colourful diagram too – very clear.
That concludes this edition. Submit your blog article to the next edition of carnival of project management using our carnival submission form. Past editions can be found on our blog carnival index page.
