There are two great events coming up:
The Lovelace lecture: hot on the heels of Ada Lovelace day comes the annual lecture given by the winner of the Lovelace medal. This year the lecture will be given by Maurice Perks, IBM Fellow, on behalf of Dr Tony Storey, IBM Distinguished Engineer. The topic is ‘The Sins of IT Projects and why they can fail’.
We all know that projects can fail, and IT projects tend to have a pretty high failure rate, so this should be a very interesting evening, so clear your diaries for 13 May 2009.
In the spirit of the credit crunch, the lecture is free, but you’ll be asked to pay towards the cost of food if you want to stay for the drinks reception afterwards. Book your place here.
There is also a new date for W-Tech: 24 June 2009. After it got cancelled earlier in the year due to snow I know there have been lots of manoeuvrings behind the scenes to make sure everything could be rescheduled for the new date. I’m really looking forward to it, especially the evening reception. It’s not too late to come along, so register here.
Hope to see some of you there!
