Project Challenge is on next week, Wednesday 25th and Thursday 26th March.
I’m not going. Partly because it’s in Birmingham, which isn’t on my doorstep. Partly because I’m expecting it to be more of the same kind of show that we always see.
There will be exhibitors desperate to sell their training courses and consultancy packages. There will be ‘high value seminars’ that may tell us something new but most likely will tell us things we already knew but with a slightly different flavour.
Everything will be perfectly presented, the speakers will be inspiring, the software demonstrations slick.
But there will be nothing radical, nothing different. I’ve attended two events in the last six months and they were both fabulous – great venues, great speakers, a busy and interesting exhibition hall. But I can’t help thinking that I’ve seen it all now. I’m giving Project Challenge a miss. How many events does a project manager need to go to in order to stay up to date?
