Here’s an update on my New Year’s resolutions:
Task: abstain from alcohol while in the UK during January
RAG* Status: Green
Progress report: Total alcohol consumed during the calendar month of January: 1.5 glasses of wine, 1 white wine spritzer, 1 Frangelico. Of this, the spritzer was consumed in the UK. Of the two overseas trips, totalling four days out of the country, only one involved alcohol consumption. While wine was drunk during the period of abstinence, it was at a leaving party for some colleagues and the circumstances, plus the subsequent switch to sparkling apple juice, meant that this deviation from plan was justified. Besides, as I didn’t drink anything while I was in Palma I felt like I could bend the rules a little. This month’s achievements have actually led to a new favourite drink being identified: Frangelico hazelnut liqueur.
Task: lose the half a stone put on over Christmas
RAG Status: Amber
Progress report: Current status is confidential information. However, progress towards the successful achievement of this milestone is taking longer than planned. The baseline has been reset for Easter, which represents significant slippage. The delay to plan has been caused by one of the risks being realised: reduced alcohol consumption has not afforded as useful a drop in calories as expected. This, combined with finishing up the chocolates from Christmas, has conspired to force a replan.
