Should I Twitter?

by Elizabeth on 17/02/2009

I’ve not taken the step to Twitter yet, but I’m thinking about doing it.  Is it seriously worth it?  Advice welcome from people who tweet already!

In a bid to make it easier for you guys, I’ve added a Share This link to posts, so you can save, share, email and bookmark anything that takes your fancy.

Do that if you like the idea of twittering! You can connect your blog with the twitter account through some wordpress widgets and you will be easier to follow by those who use twitter! all my best!

I guess it depends what you want to get out of Twitter. I think it is really useful for the kind of light but frequent contacts with people that help to build a community. There is already a growing community of project managers on Twitter that are using it to pass on useful information and little chunks of help.

I also think Twitter has a chance to be useful in project management itself, in terms of building a team. I’ve done a couple of posts on this that you may find useful, one on Twitter as a PM tool and the other about the PM community on Twitter.

    Hope that helps!

I think twitter is great tool and there a lot of ways how you can use it: promote your blog, build your brand, breaking news(twitter is blazingly fast when it comes to hot topics), build your professional network etc. You can take a look at my twitter here – http://www.twitter.com/godzhesas I basically use it for getting the latest news and discussing topics of interest, Hope this helps :) )

Yes. Absolutely. You are already inviting conversation via this blog (good job!). Twitter is another channel where you can invite and participate in conversation.

Well, I guess that settles it! Looks like I’m going to have to find out about Twitter and get myself set up.

    Elizabeth,

When you get onto twitter, also sign up for the TwittGroup Project Managers at Twitter at http://twittgroups.com/group/pmot. You can find other project managers there. Then flag your posts with #PMOT so people following that hashtag can find you.

I use a product called TweetDeck as my twitter platform – it is much better than the web. There are lots of Twitter 101 blogs out there. Ask with a tweet using #PMOT for some pointers on how to use twitter productively.
