Carnival of Project Management #21

by Elizabeth on 2/07/2008

Welcome to the June/July 2008 edition of carnival of project management. Yes, we’re going bi-monthly, so the next edition will be August/September. To tide you over until then, here are the entries for this edition.

Rich Maltzman, PMP presents The Big Yellow Taxi of Project Management posted at Scope crêpe, saying, “They paved paradise…”

John Gough presents 5 Routes to Benefit Realisation posted at iJournal, saying, “Benefits are sometimes ignored in the rush to comple projects on time and to budget, but here are five ways to ensure benefits are not forgotten.”

Craig Borysowich presents Special Considerations for International Projects posted at Tech Architect. Craig submitted loads of articles. I like this one the best – and for future reference, it’s very, very rare that you’ll get more than one article in a Carnival.

Phil B. presents Bored at Work « Phil for Humanity posted at Phil for Humanity, saying, “It is better to be bored at work than bored at home.” Project managers aren’t bored at work, are we? This article must have slipped through the net!

Craig Brown presents P2M – Japan’s Project and Programme Management posted at Better Projects, saying, “Bet you didn’t know about this PM framework… Just when you thought you had it all figured out.”

Jonathan Senior presents Project Management – which corners do YOU cut? posted at Sharp End Training, saying, “Effective management is a balancing act. Which corners do you cut and why?” Jonathan asks an interesting question. It’s a pity he didn’t take the time to answer it – this post is really sparse.

Paul Ritchie has pulled together his posts on complex initiatives into the Complexity Set posted at Crossderry Blog. It covers a series focusing on a Harvard Business Review article on how little past project experience does for managers when they’re thrust into complex projects or programs amongst other things.

Michael Walsh presents 8 Tips For Improving Time Management posted at Business Growth, saying, “If you follow these tips you will be better positioned to gain and keep more customers at a profit and align your business with your personal goals and commitments in life.”

Louise Manning presents Change Management posted at The Human Imprint.

CMOE presents Acknowledging the Pain: Change in an Organization posted at CMOE- Coaching.

Mike King presents Promoting Employee Engagement in the Workplace posted at Learn This, saying, “There are a number of things that can help to get people more engaged with others and I wanted to outline some of the ones I’ve learned from my experience and what I’ve encountered reading and discussing the topic with others.”

Jose DeJesus MD presents Motivating Your Employees posted at carnival submission form.
