How do I know who you are? – Identity Management in the Public Sector

by Elizabeth on 15/11/2006

If you aren’t going to a Nouveau Beaujolais party on Thursday 16 November, you might want to check out this talk.

Speakers: Simon Davies, Visiting Fellow, Information Systems Department of the London School of Economics (LSE) and Stephen Harrison, Identity and Passport Service

Location: BCS, Southampton Street, London
Now that the Identity Cards Act 2006 has been passed and the Identity and Passport Service (IPS) formed as an Executive Agency of the Home Office, identity management in the UK is going to be transformed into something more powerful and more integrated.

The two speakers will be considering not just the challenges of implementing the biometric technologies to register and verify identity, but also the benefits to the public and their concerns.

Arrive 6pm (Tea, coffee and biscuits will be served from 6pm) for a 6.30pm start. Due to building requirements you are asked to register online. The meeting is open to both members of the British Computer Society and non-members. CPD certificates will be available after the talk. The evening will end with a light buffet and wine served to facilitate networking.
