I meant to post this when it came my way on Tuesday. I subscribed to the US Government Accountability Office updates when I was researching my book. It’s always interesting to read about large-scale projects and programmes that have gone pear-shaped due to poor collaboration between agencies and so on, and the lessons learned are often applicable to smaller-scale corporate projects too.
The GAO is a kind of audit function. This report, released Tuesday, is a good example of why controls need to be put in place on any project and then followed through: DOD Excess Property: Control Breakdowns Present Significant Security Risk and Continuing Waste and Inefficiency.
